This alert applies to the following park:
- Inskip Peninsula Recreation AreaSunshine Coast
Nearshore landslides and dynamic coastal activities are common within the Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area.
Recent high tides and steady shoreline retrogression has forced the requirement to remove a toilet facility within the Sarawak West camping area. As a result, camping capacity has been reduced in the area whilst the removal and relocation of the toilet facility takes place.
Campers and pedestrians should exercise caution and check access conditions as landslides can occur anywhere at any time. This is part of ongoing natural coastal erosion.
For your safety and to avoid injuries:
- Keep well back from sand cliffs and waters’ edge as unstable beach sand may collapse without warning.
- Avoid swimming or wading around the landslide.
- Be aware that submerged objects and strong underwater currents may be present.
- Nearby trees or branches may fall at any time.
- Supervise children at all times on the beach.
- Observe all signage, barriers, and directions from Rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
Ensure compliance with any signage for your safety.
Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
