As a result of high fire danger conditions typically experienced on K'gari over the warmer months of the year, a seasonal restriction on forward bookings for the K'gari Great Walk is implemented yearly from 1 November to 29 February. Restrictions on forward bookings reduces impacts of visitors if the walk is closed at short notice.

Due to current conditions some sections of the K'gari Great walk are now open.

The sections and hiker's camps that remain CLOSED during the seasonal closure are

• Hook Point to Central station
• Jabiru hiker's camp
• Boomanjin hiker's camp
• Benaroon hiker's camp
• Markwell's feeder track
• Wangoolba feeder track
• Dundonga feeder track
• Winnum feeder track

Rangers will continue to assess and open the walk (or sections of the walk) and associated camp areas when conditions allow. The next review will be made by 28 November 2025.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
