Generator use
Queensland’s parks and forests are for the enjoyment of all visitors.
Many visitors value our parks and forests for their peace and quiet, so generators are not permitted in most parks or forests in Queensland.
Where are generators allowed?
Check specific park pages for generator restrictions, including maximum noise level output and hours of use, in place for each camp site. Read the Operational policy: Generators and Noise Generating Appliances in Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) Managed Areas for further information.
Find parks and forests in Queensland where generators are permitted.
Medical conditions
In some areas where generator use is not allowed, if you have a medical condition, you are allowed to use low decibel generators (65dB (A)) to run essential devices. Make sure you have a current medical certificate stating you require the use of an appliance.
Other options
Generator noise can disturb other people’s enjoyment of the area and disturb native wildlife, so think about using alternatives. Solar panels and inverters are the best ways to provide power for your must-have devices when camping and can be used anywhere.
