As the custodian of national parks, state forests, forest reserves and marine parks, QPWS supports responsible community use of protected areas for various activities while protecting these areas for future generations.

Many activities require a permit, including commercial and recreational tours, research, education and some organised events. Permits help ensure these areas are managed in an ecologically sustainable way by regulating where, when and how activities occur.
