Marine Park Permit

Legislation

Marine Parks Act 2004

Activity description

  • Media activity
  • Photography, filming or sound recording

Permit summary

Photography, filming or sound recording, also referred to as media activity, may require a marine park permit if it impacts on the marine park or persons using the marine park.

Many media activities in state marine parks can be managed through low impact recording principles to ensure there is negligible impact to the area or other park users. However, more complex or higher risk media activities may require a permit

If a media activity is proposed in the intertidal area (beach) of a Recreation area, such as Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) or K’gari (Fraser Island), a Commercial Activity Permit or Commercial Activity Agreement may be required.

Please note, if a marine park permit is required for your media activity, allow a minimum of 60 business days for a valid application to be processed, although no compulsory timeframe applies. If more information is required to assess the activity, it may take an additional 20 business days to process your application.
