This alert applies to the following parks:

A fire prohibition is active from 12/09/2025 until further notice due to the current weather forecast and increased risk of bushfire.

Fires must not be lit anywhere in:

  • White Mountains National Park
  • Porcupine Gorge National Park
  • Moorinya National Park
  • Dalrymple National Park.

During the fire prohibition, only fully enclosed cooking and heating appliances that meet the requirements below are permitted.

The appliance:

  • Must use gas or manufactured fuel (eg, briquettes). Manufactured fuel does not include milled timber or sawn/cut tree parts.
  • Must be used only for cooking and/or heating.
  • Must be a minimum of 20cm off the ground and more than 2m from flammable materials, which includes vegetation.
  • Must not have the potential to generate airborne embers or possibly ignite nearby ground fuels.
  • Must be fully self-contained (heat source enclosed and no exposed flame) and never left unattended when in use.

Appliances that are not fully self-contained, such as a brazier, are not permitted.

All appliances, materials and burnt fuel must be removed from the area on your departure.

Visitors must comply with this fire prohibition, on-site signs and any directions given by Rangers. Penalties apply.

QPWS will continue to monitor the situation and update this Park Alert should conditions change.
