This alert applies to the following parks:

Works will be occurring at Mulligan Falls camping area from 1-9 October 2025.

QPWS will be heli-lifting materials into Mulligan Falls camping area throughout the day on Thursday 2 October.

Thorsborne Trail hikers arriving/staying at Mulligan Falls when heli-lifting is occurring may be given safety directives by Rangers during each helicopter drop-off and may need to wait until the helicopter is away from the site before being able to access into/out of the camping area and the toilet. It is anticipated that this should not exceed a few minutes’ wait.

Other minor works may occur at other locations on the Thorsborne Trail/Hinchinbrook Island during this time.

The camping area and falls will remain open throughout for Thorsborne Trail hikers, however some of the individual camp sites may be closed.

Construction noise, including chainsaws and small machinery, may be expected during the day. Works will be carried out during the day to minimise disturbance to campers.

QPWS apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience in supporting this important upgrade.
