This alert applies to the following parks:
- Porcupine Gorge National ParkOutback Queensland
- Moorrinya National ParkOutback Queensland
- White Mountains National ParkOutback Queensland; Townsville
- Blackbraes National ParkOutback Queensland; Townsville; Tropical North Queensland
- White Blow Conservation ParkTownsville
- Dalrymple National ParkTownsville
Queensland Fire Department (QFD) has declared a Local Fire Ban from Friday 3 October 2025, for Charters Towers Regional and Flinders Shire Council local government areas, which includes sections of the above national and conservation parks within these local government areas.
Check current Fire Bans and Restrictions declared by QFD.
Until further notice, open fires must not be lit anywhere in:
- those areas listed above.
The following are not permitted:
- Open campfires and fires in braziers, drums and other open containers.
- Appliances using wood, timber or solid manufactured fuels (e.g. Oz-pigs, kettle barbeques and similar appliances); and
- use of QPWS supplied fire-rings and wood-fired barbeques.
Gas and electric barbecues including gas and spirit stoves, are permitted to be used if they:
- do not have the potential to generate airborne embers or ignite nearby ground fuels.
- are not left unattended; and
- are suitably contained.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
