The Woonoongoora Walkers’ Camp is currently undergoing facility upgrades and remains closed until 30 September 2026, inclusive. As a result, a partial reopening for limited bookings, due to ongoing works in the area, is scheduled from 1 October 2026. Great Walkers can also choose to bypass the camping area altogether and still complete the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk.
The following area along the Springbrook/Numinbah Valley section of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk is scheduled for a partial reopening for limited bookings from 1 October 2026, for the duration of the upgrade works:
- Woonoongoora Walkers' Camp: Partial reopening - Limited camping permit bookings will be issued for the duration of the upgrade works or until further notice.
IMPORTANT: Construction works are underway at the Woonoongoora Walkers’ Camp, with construction workers on site from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. Visitors may experience some noise disturbance during these hours.
For your safety while works are in progress, please observe of the following:
- Do not enter any fenced construction exclusion areas.
- Fires are not permitted within the camping area - penalties apply.
- Please take all rubbish with you when you leave.
Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
Due to the changed conditions the visitor experience may be affected.
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
Facilities will reopen when construction is completed.
Refunds can be applied for via your online account at qld.gov.au/camping.
