Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns (weather permitting) from Friday 29 May 2026 to Wednesday 30 September 2026 (inclusive), as part of the fire management program for Clemant State Forest.
During this period, the northern section of Clemant State Forest (between Surveyors creek and Leichardt creek) will be temporarily closed.
As a result, smoke, firefighters, aircraft and machinery may be seen throughout the northern section of the State forest and adjacent mountain ridges around Godwins Peak, Paluma Range National Park.
- Firefighters and machinery may also be working along roadsides in the vicinity of these closed areas. For your safety and the safety of authorities, please slow down and observe all directions and signs.
- Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.
The aim of these planned burns is to maintain a healthy forest environment and reduce the potential threats from bushfires in periods of dangerous fire weather.
Public safety is the highest consideration in all QPWS fire management activities. To find out more visit the fire management webpage.
