- K'gari Great WalkFraser Coast
- K'gari, Great Sandy National ParkFraser Coast
Travelling North of Yidney Rocks along the eastern beach is via the bypass track or the beach if conditions permit. It is recommended to travel the beach within two hours either side of low tide. Beach conditions are impacted by the tides, swell and sand erosion, please check beach conditions before you travel.
From 30 July 2026 to early September 2026, the Happy Valley Boardwalk will be under reconstruction, with single-lane, alternating (contra-flow) traffic control in place.
From early October 2026 to early December 2026 reconstruction of the roadway will require a full closure of the Happy Valley Beach Access Ramp.
For further information, please contact Fraser Coast Regional Council.
During the Boardwalk reconstruction, due to the nature of the works, traffic movements through the work site will be temporarily stopped at times to facilitate construction. While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, users of the Happy Valley Beach Access Ramp should anticipate delays and allow additional travel time.
Throughout the Beach Access Ramp Reconstruction, due to the nature of the works and the constrained site conditions, it is not possible to safely maintain vehicle access through the construction area during this stage. During this closure, traffic will be detoured via the Happy Valley Back Track.
Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
For your safety please slow down and observe all directions and signs.
