This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) staff will be conducting planned burns within the Princess Hills Section of Girringun National Park on Wednesday 16 September 2026.

During this period, helicopters and smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Girringun National Park in Princess Hills and Wairuna Sections, Blencoe Falls camping area, Kirrama National Park, nearby sections of Wet Tropics Great Walk and Herbert River camping zone.

Persons with respiratory or other health issues should take precautions.

Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats.They also aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities,infrastructure, parks and forests.
