Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting a planned hazard reduction burn, weather permitting, between Monday, 21 September and Friday, 25 September 2026, as part of the fire management program for Lamington National Park.

During the planned burn the following areas at Green Mountains section of Lamington NP are closed to public access on Monday, 21 September:

• Python Rock track and lookout
• Pats Bluff and access trail

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Green Mountains (O'Reilly), Darlington and Kerry Valley. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. They also aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests.

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
