Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations (weather permitting) from Wednesday 7 October to Thursday 8 October 2026, between Mona Mona and Flaggy Creek within Kuranda National Park and Kuranda State Forest.
As a result, visitors may encounter fire operations vehicles and personnel on roads in the area. Smoke may also be visible and may impact driving conditions.
Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory illness.
Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health and biodiversity as well as help to reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires.
