Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns (weather permitting) within Paluma Range National Park between Friday 9 October and Friday 23 October 2026 (dates inclusive), as part of the annual conservation management and hazard reduction program for parks and forests.

For your safety, the Blue Gum circuit track (off H track) is closed during this period.

Smoke, firefighters, aircraft and machinery may be seen in the vicinity of:

  • Paluma-Ewan Road from Paluma township to Taravale Road
  • Taravale Road
  • H track
  • Blue Gum circuit track
  • Upper reaches of Star River and Smith Creek

The aim of these burns is to maintain a healthy forest environment and reduce the potential threats from bushfires in periods of dangerous fire weather.

Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation, close windows and doors and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory illness.

Public safety is the highest consideration in all QPWS fire management activities. To find out more visit the fire management webpage.

Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
