This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations (weather permitting) in Tully Gorge and Japoon national parks between Thursday 8 October and Monday 12 October 2026 (dates inclusive).

Mount Tyson walking track in Tully Gorge National Park will be closed during this period.

Planned burns are vital in promoting ecological health and biodiversity as well as help to reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires.

Public safety is the highest consideration in all QPWS fire management activities. To find out more visit the Fire management webpage.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
