A QPWS and Mackay Regional Council coordinated 1080 wild pig baiting program will be undertaken within Cathu State Forest on Wednesday 14th October 2026 (weather permitting).
Where possible, any remaining baits will be collected from Wednesday 28 October 2026.
Visitors to Cathu State Forest are advised that 1080 poison baits will be present during the baiting program.
For your safety:
• Keep dogs securely restrained.
• Do not allow dogs to roam or consume bait, carcasses or other material that may have been exposed to 1080.
• Do not touch, move or interfere with bait.
• Take particular care when accessing the forest during the baiting period and follow all signs and directions in place.
The baiting program is being undertaken as part of coordinated feral pig management to reduce impacts on environmental values and surrounding land.
