Recent heavy rain is causing flooding to occur in the Upper Noosa River. Travel on water upstream of Fig Tree Point is unsafe due to the large volume of fast flowing water and hazards caused by submerged objects in the “The Narrows” section of the Noosa River. Walkers on the Cooloola Great Walk should be aware that due to recent wet weather, sections of the walk may be submerged in water. The Walk remains open, but walkers should proceed with caution and check access conditions before deciding if it is safe to traverse.
The following areas are temporarily CLOSED until further notice:
- Cooloola Wilderness Trail and campsites
- Upper Noosa River upstream from Fig Tree Point
- Fig Tree Point camping area
- Harrys Hut camping area and day-use area
- Harrys Hut Road
- Upper Noosa River campsites 1 – 15
- All other walking tracks adjacent to the Upper Noosa River and Kin Kin Creek catchments.
