Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations (weather permitting) in Gadgarra National Park from Wednesday 28 October to Friday 30 October 2026 (dates inclusive).

The Mailmans Track, from Old Cairns Road, will be closed during this period.

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Topaz and Butchers Creek. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating effects of smoke inhalation.

Planned burns are vital in promoting the ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. They also aim to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests.

Public safety is the highest consideration in all QPWS fire management activities. To find out more visit the Fire management webpage.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
