Post-flood evaluation of impacts on natural values

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service conducts post-flood assessments to evaluate the impacts and outcomes of floods on the estate.

Detailed assessments are undertaken for floods that occur in areas of the estate with high ecological significance and/or are known, or suspected to, have resulted in significant detrimental impact to natural values.

These assessments provide an overview of:

  • the flood event
  • extent and severity of the impacts
  • the ecosystems and significant species within the impact area
  • practical recommendations for mitigation, recovery and monitoring.
