Glastonbury Creek camping area

Glastonbury Creek camping area is an open grassy area at the base of a hill.

Camping area features: Open grassy area at the base of a hill. Main activities include exploring the surrounding forest on foot and by vehicle, abseiling nearby, relaxing, watching birds and wildlife. Note: High tension powerlines cross 40m above this camping area.

Location: On the south-east edge of Brooyar State Forest alongside Glastonbury Creek.

Access: People travelling with caravans or trailers can access the forest from its southern entrance by taking the Gympie–Woolooga Road and turning right into Diggins Road and onto Greendale Road. Follow the signs to the camping area. This access route includes sections of unsealed road.

To access from the north, head 10km north of Gympie along the Bruce Highway then turn left onto the Wide Bay Highway and continue 7.8km. Turn left onto Petersen Road and follow the signs to the camping area located on the left 2km past the forest entrance.

Caravan access along Petersen Road can vary according to road conditions. Please check local conditions before setting out.

CAUTION! Wet conditions can affect vehicle access across the creek to the camping area.

Number of sites: Sites are not numbered. Maximum capacity for the camping area is 120 people.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; caravans; camper trailers; small and large motorhomes and large groups.

Campsite surface: Grass.

Facilities: Fire rings, composting toilets and non-potable water.

Open fires: Allowed—except when fire bans or prohibitions apply—in fire rings only, but fuel stoves are recommended. Never gather wood (or even kindling) from the bush—it provides home for wildlife and nutrients for the soil. Bring your own clean-milled firewood.

Generators: Not permitted

Essentials to bring: Drinking water, a fuel stove for cooking, rubbish bags (bins are not provided), insect repellent and sunscreen. If you wish to use the fire rings, bring your own firewood (untreated mill off-cuts).
