Forested mountain ranges are the backdrop to a patchwork of native forests and 2,500 hectares of pine trees (Pinus caribaea) in the Cardwell area. Streams draining the hills intermittently on their way to the sea have formed a series of waterholes and rainforest fringed creeks, which offer a refreshing stop for locals and travellers.
Location
Cardwell State Forest is located approximately 164km north of Townsville and 182km south of Cairns.
