Camping in Mia Mia

Mia Mia bush camping area is nestled along the banks of Teemburra Creek on the eastern side of Captain Crossing. There are no formal camping facilities and visitors must be totally self-sufficient.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. Obtain your camping permit before you arrive. Camping permits are available to book online or learn about our camping booking options.

Please attach your camping tag to your tent or camper trailer in a visible position.

Park-specific conditions

• Access to Mia Mia bush camping area is via an unsealed road and suitable for 4WD vehicles only.
• Dogs and other domestic animals are not permitted in the camping area.
• Camp fires are permitted in enclosed above the ground fire containers only (except when fire bans apply), with strict conditions. Bring your own fire container and clean, milled firewood. Extinguish your camp fire with water and remove your fire container when you leave. Using a fuel or gas stove is recommended. For up to date fire ban information, visit fire.qld.gov.au.
• Collecting firewood from the State forest is prohibited. Penalties apply.
• Camping is permitted on the eastern side of Teemburra Creek only.
• Access is not permitted beyond Captain Crossing nor camping permitted on the western side Teemburra Creek, as this is private property.
• Maximum length of stay is 21 nights.
