Camping area features: camp sites situated in savanna woodlands on the upper level of Porcupine Gorge within easy access to the day-use area facilities and walking tracks.

Location: 7km from the turnoff on the Kennedy Developmental Road.

Access: 2WD vehicle, the access road to the camping area is sealed. The surface within the camping area is unsealed (dirt) and may become boggy after rain.

Fire ring

Campsites are suitable for: tent camping, caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes, campervans and roof top tent camping. Refer to the table above for suitability.

Campsite surface: dirt.

Facilities: toilets (non-flush) and picnic shelter.

Open fires: Camp fires are only permitted in the steel fire rings (fireplace) provided, except when QFD fire ban and restrictions or QPWS-imposed fire prohibitions are in place. Fire rings are available at sites 2, 4, 5, 7–10, 12–16 & 18–22 (refer to table above). Penalties apply for lighting a fire in a place other than the fire rings provided and leaving a fire unattended. Bring your own clean firewood such as untreated, mill off-cuts—collecting firewood from the national park is prohibited.

Generators: not allowed.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, clean firewood such as untreated, mill off-cuts, fuel or gas stove for cooking and rubbish bags (and lockable container). Read more about before you visit.
