There are two lookouts at Camp Mountain: one with fabulous views over Samford Valley to the Glass House Mountains and out to Moreton Bay; the other features a vista of Brisbane’s skyline.

The steep access track opens out to a picnic area nestled serenely among tall eucalypt trees. The site was once used by gold prospectors as a camp and forms part of the historic Enoggera goldfields.

Venture further into the forest on foot, horse or mountain-bike along a shared trail, which includes a horseriding trail, accessed 20m left of the Bathersby lookout platform.

Listen for the distinctive 'chak-ak-ak-ak-ak' call of Lewin's honeyeaters. In winter, admire sprays of white blooms decorating the tallowwood trees—a nectar-laden treat for grey-headed flying foxes, scaly-breasted lorikeets and squirrel gliders.

Getting there and getting around

Camp Mountain lookout is in the southern section of D'Aguilar National Park, about 20km from Brisbane's city centre.
