Parks of the Cooper Creek catchment—park maps
Location: camping area turn-off is approximately 5km from the park’s eastern boundary. Turn right and travel another 2km to the camping area.
Access: 4WD vehicle recommended. Accessible by high clearance 2WD vehicle in dry weather only, check weather forecasts before you arrive.
Number of sites: five separate unnumbered camp sites situated along the Thomson River (first in best situated!)
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping by your vehicle, roof top tent camping, swags, camper trailers and high clearance (4WD) caravans. NB: the last campsite situated along the camping area access road is suitable for tents and camper trailers only.
Camp site surface: dirt.
Facilities: none.
Open fires: campfires are permitted in the fire rings provided, except when fire prohibitions or fire bans are in place. Bring your own clean milled firewood. Portable fuel stoves are recommended. Collecting firewood and the use of chainsaws is prohibited.
Generators: not allowed, except for medical reasons (conditions apply).
Essentials to bring: all food and drinking water, sturdy rubbish bags, insect repellent, sun protection, first aid kit, reliable torch, toilet paper (not wet wipes!), vehicle spares and sufficient fuel. Read more about before you visit.
Mobile phone coverage: unavailable; satellite phones, personal locator beacon (PLB) and UHF radio recommended.
