Park features

The Wallaman Falls section of Girringun National Park forms part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area. It boasts spectacular scenery and an array of plant and animal life. The creeks and rivers are home to platypus, eastern water dragons and saw-shelled turtles. If you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a musky rat-kangaroo or an endangered southern cassowary.

Looking after the park

• Leave your pets at home. Domestic animals are not permitted in national parks.
• Never feed or handle wildlife. Human foods may be harmful to wild animals and they can become aggressive towards people when fed.
• Fires are only  permitted within the fire rings provided (except when fire bans apply). Bring your own clean, milled firewood. Firewood must not be collected from the national park.
• Take all food scraps and garbage with you. Rubbish bins are not provided.
• Glass is not allowed in or around Stony Creek.
• Generators are prohibited.
• Drone use is prohibited in the camping area.
• Stay on marked tracks. Do not take shortcuts or form new tracks as this damages the environment and causes erosion.
• Remember, this is a national park – everything is protected.

Park management

Wallaman Falls lies within the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area. It is managed for the purposes of nature conservation and nature-based recreation.

Wallaman Falls, Girringun National Park is managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in collaboration with the Warrgamay People and the Wet Tropics Management Authority.
