Camping in White Mountains

Camp in a peaceful, open woodland setting at Canns Camp Creek camping area in White Mountains National Park.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag or your booking details must be displayed at your camp site.

Park-specific conditions

  • Camp fires are only permitted in the steel fire rings (fireplace) provided at some camp sites, except when QFD fire ban and restrictions or QPWS-imposed fire prohibitions (PDF, 763.6KB) are in place. Bring your own clean firewood such as untreated, mill off-cuts—collecting firewood from the national park is prohibited. Penalties apply for lighting a fire in a place other than the fireplace provided and leaving a fire unattended.
  • All bookings for camp sites must be made prior to staying.
  • Maximum length of stay in 7 nights.
  • Empty chemical toilets at approved dump points, not in the national park toilets.
  • Rubbish bins are not provided. Bring a sealable container to store your rubbish in. Take your rubbish away with you when you leave for dispose or recycling.
  • Generator use is prohibited within the camping area.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted in the national park. Please observe the guidelines for dog and pets.
  • Drones are prohibited at Canns Camp Creek camping area, see Drone safety and regulation.
  • No smoking (including vaping) within 10m of camp sites and toilets.
