Key visitor information for Great Sandy National Park
Before you travel, it’s important to know that each area of Great Sandy National Park has different mandatory requirements, from permits, to where you can camp and what you need to bring. This includes carrying a sealed portable toilet when camping in beach zones without facilities, as well as following fire and waste guidelines to keep the park clean and safe. Having the right permits and knowing where you can set up helps protect this special place for everyone.
We recommend always visiting the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) website before your trip for the most up-to-date information on permits, camping areas, and park conditions. If you’re in the Tewantin area, it can also be helpful to call into the Great Sandy Information Centre and speak with a Ranger for any further guidance you may need.
