Blackdown Tableland scenic drive

Travel through diverse landscapes offering sweeping views, past sandstone rock formations and over trickling creeks. Step out of your vehicle and explore a variety of walks along the way.

Blackdown Tableland scenic drive

The winding and steep drive on the Tableland Road includes both sealed and unsealed sections of road.

From the base of the tableland, drive the 6km of sealed road up through acacia and tall woodland plant communities to Yaddamen Dhina. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views across to the surrounding plains. Stop at Yaddamen Dhina to explore short walks in the Yaddamen Dhina area or enjoy a picnic or BBQ in the day-use area. Toilet facilities are available.

From Yaddamen Dhina, the 8km section of unsealed (gravel) road to Munall camping area is accessible to 2WD vehicles driven with caution. Travel along the top of the plateau, passing sandstone outcrops, trickling creeks and tall stringybark forests to arrive at the heart of the national park. Stretch your legs and explore the walks in the Mimosa Creek area.

Beyond Munall camping area, the road to Gudda Gumoo is recommended for 4WD vehicles. Drive past tall open forests then follow the ridgeline down to the parking area located at the top of Gudda Gumoo Gorge. Toilets facilities are available at the car park. Lace up your hiking boots and explore the walks in the Gudda Gumoo area.

Getting there and getting around

Blackdown Tableland National Park lies in central Queensland 183km west of Rockhampton. The signed turn-off to the national park is on the Capricorn Highway 11km west of Dingo or 35km east of Blackwater. From the turn-off, follow Charlevue Road for 16km to the base of the tableland.

Opening hours

The Blackdown Tableland scenic drive is open all year round. Access may be unavailable at times due to wet conditions. The national park may be closed at times due to severe weather or park management operations.
